Birdwatchers have traveled to Cayambe Coca National Park in the eastern Andes of Ecuador to observe the elusive rufous-bellied seedsnipe. This bird species, part of a unique family of waders, inhabits harsh environments at high altitudes where few other
birds can survive. The expedition involved climbing to an altitude of 4,400 meters, the highest the birdwatchers had ever experienced.
