What's Happening?
IBM Consulting and Entrust have partnered to address the growing threat of quantum computing to cryptographic systems in the finance sector. This collaboration combines IBM's quantum-safe transformation services with Entrust's expertise in public key
infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic security. The joint effort focuses on the Entrust Cryptographic Security Platform, which offers continuous discovery, visibility, policy enforcement, and lifecycle automation for certificates, keys, and secrets. The initiative aims to transition organizations from risk assessment to active implementation of quantum-safe measures, addressing challenges faced by chief information security officers and technology leaders. Many organizations currently lack comprehensive visibility into their cryptographic infrastructure, complicating the assessment of quantum vulnerabilities and the planning of effective migration strategies.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between IBM and Entrust is significant as it addresses a critical need for enhanced security measures in the face of advancing quantum computing capabilities. As quantum computing progresses, traditional cryptographic systems may become vulnerable, posing risks to data protection and privacy. This collaboration provides the tools and expertise necessary for organizations to safeguard their cryptographic assets, ensuring continuous oversight and consistent governance. The initiative is particularly relevant as regulatory pressures on data protection increase globally, necessitating robust security frameworks to prevent potential breaches. By proactively implementing quantum-safe measures, organizations can mitigate risks and protect sensitive information from future quantum threats.
