Mars and olam food ingredients (ofi) have announced a five-year collaboration to promote climate-smart, regenerative farming practices in Ecuador's cocoa supply chain. This initiative will involve over 960 farmers transitioning to regenerative agriculture
across approximately 9,000 hectares in key cocoa-growing regions. The partnership aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing soil health, and improving crop yields. The program will support farmers in adopting multistrata agroforestry, which combines various plants to mimic natural biodiversity, thereby boosting cocoa production and resilience against climate change.
