What's Happening?
Kids of Immigrants, a Los Angeles-based brand, is collaborating with Nike to release a new sneaker mule inspired by the classic Total 90 soccer boot. The Kids of Immigrants x Nike T90 Mule features a unique
design with an asymmetrical buttoned kiltie and a mix of materials, including suede, patent leather, and nubuck. The sneakers will be available in two colorways, each featuring red Swooshes with yellow outlines and cork insoles. This collaboration follows the brand's previous successful partnership with Nike on the Air Max Sunder.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration highlights the growing trend of merging sports culture with fashion, appealing to both sneaker enthusiasts and soccer fans. By reimagining a classic soccer boot into a modern sneaker mule, Kids of Immigrants and Nike are tapping into the nostalgia and cultural significance of the Total 90 boot. This release also underscores the influence of diverse cultural backgrounds in shaping contemporary fashion trends, as Kids of Immigrants is founded by first-generation Americans of Honduran and Liberian descent.
What's Next?
The Kids of Immigrants x Nike T90 Mule is set to release on May 28 through the Snkrs app, priced at $120. As the World Cup approaches, the demand for soccer-inspired fashion is likely to increase, potentially leading to more collaborations and releases in this space. The success of this collaboration could encourage other brands to explore similar partnerships, blending sports heritage with modern fashion.
