What's Happening?
Dandara, an independent housebuilder, has relaunched its Management Trainee Programme to address the growing skills shortage in the UK construction industry. The programme invites applications for five new trainee roles across its offices in Braintree,
Milton Keynes, Tunbridge Wells, and Bristol. Designed for school leavers who opt not to attend university, the two-year scheme offers hands-on experience in various disciplines, including surveying, technical, sustainability, design, and construction management. Participants gain practical industry experience while working towards professional qualifications. The programme aims to develop the skills of young people entering the industry, providing an earn-while-you-learn pathway that helps secure the future of the construction sector.
Why It's Important?
The relaunch of Dandara's Management Trainee Programme is crucial in addressing the UK's construction industry skills gap, which requires recruiting a million more workers over the next decade to meet housebuilding targets. By offering an alternative to traditional university education, the programme provides young people with the opportunity to build long-term careers in construction without incurring student debt. This initiative not only helps secure the future workforce of the construction sector but also supports economic growth by ensuring that the industry can meet demand. The programme's focus on practical experience and professional development aligns with the industry's need for skilled workers capable of addressing complex construction challenges.
What's Next?
Applications for the Management Trainee Programme will close on June 19th. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine enthusiasm to learn and develop within the industry. As the programme progresses, Dandara will continue to support trainees through structured training, mentoring, and practical experience. The company aims to expand the programme to include more roles and locations, further contributing to the development of the construction industry's future leaders. By nurturing talent and providing clear career pathways, Dandara seeks to ensure a steady supply of skilled professionals capable of driving innovation and growth in the construction sector.
