Stanford University has extended its unprecedented streak of winning at least one national championship in NCAA team sports for 50 consecutive academic years. The latest addition to this streak was achieved by the Stanford men's gymnastics team, which
won the 2026 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships in Champaign, Illinois. This victory marks the 11th national championship for the men's gymnastics program, with eight of these titles won under the guidance of current head coach Thom Glielmi. Stanford's streak began on November 28, 1976, when the men's water polo team secured a national championship. Over the years, Stanford has accumulated 138 national championships across 20 unique sports, surpassing UCLA's record of 126 championships in 21 sports.
