A recent study titled 'Generations In Play: 2026 Audience Insights Report,' conducted by Dentsu and IGN Entertainment, reveals significant shifts in media consumption habits among Gen Z. The study found
that 59% of Gen Z users frequently cancel and renew streaming subscriptions based on the availability of specific TV series or films, indicating a decline in platform loyalty. Additionally, nearly a third of Gen Z consumers prefer not to pay full price for video games, opting instead for gaming platform subscriptions. The study, which surveyed 6,250 highly-engaged entertainment consumers across the US, UK, and Australia, also highlights that Gen Z is 13% more likely to attend movie openings than older generations, viewing theatrical attendance as a social experience.
