The inaugural Beyond Chicago festival, an extension of the Beyond Fest genre cinema showcase from Los Angeles, has revealed its opening and closing night films. The festival will commence with Curry Barker's horror film 'Obsession,' which was acquired
by Focus Features at the Toronto Film Festival. The event will conclude with the world premiere of Daniel Goldhaber's remake of the 1973 classic 'Faces of Death' at the Music Box Theatre. Scheduled to run from April 2 to 5, the festival will feature 30 films, including a Centerpiece Screening of Ben Wheatley's 'Normal,' hosted by Bob Odenkirk. Other highlights include RZA's action thriller 'One Spoon of Chocolate,' a 35mm screening of 'The Kid With The Golden Arm,' and a 4K restoration of 'Speed Racer,' presented by co-director Lilly Wachowski. The festival will also showcase world premieres such as Gene Gallerano and William Pisciotta's 'The Yeti.'
