What's Happening?
Hotel Communication Network (HCN) has introduced the Hotel Commerce Media Network, a new advertising platform that transforms in-room tablets into integrated advertising tools. This platform was unveiled
at the POSSIBLE Miami Marketing Conference & Expo, where HCN CEO Kevin Bidner highlighted its potential to revolutionize consumer engagement in the hospitality industry. The network combines digital out-of-home advertising, display, transactional commerce, and experiential marketing, achieving high engagement rates with 85% of guests interacting with the tablets. The platform also facilitates room service orders, increasing order value by 22%. HCN plans to expand this model to 250,000 hotel rooms by 2027 and one million by 2030, capitalizing on the decline of third-party cookies and the rise of first-party data.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the Hotel Commerce Media Network signifies a shift in how advertising can be integrated into the hospitality industry, offering a new revenue stream for hotels. By engaging guests at a critical point in their purchase journey, the platform provides advertisers with a unique opportunity to reach consumers in a measurable and meaningful way. This development could lead to increased profitability for hotels and more personalized experiences for guests. The platform's success could encourage other industries to explore similar models, potentially reshaping the landscape of digital advertising.
What's Next?
HCN's expansion plans indicate a significant growth trajectory for the Hotel Commerce Media Network. As the platform scales, it is likely to attract more advertisers seeking to leverage its high engagement rates and targeted reach. The hospitality industry may see increased competition as other companies develop similar technologies. Additionally, the platform's reliance on first-party data could prompt discussions around data privacy and consumer consent, influencing future regulatory frameworks.
