What's Happening?
Facets Film Forum in Chicago is launching 'Family Sundays,' a monthly film series aimed at introducing young audiences to the joys of moviegoing. Starting May 17, 2026, the series will feature animated short films for children ages 2-6 and a matinee showing
of 'Ratatouille' for ages 6-12. The initiative includes interactive activities like art projects and stop-motion film creation, designed to foster creativity and community among children and their families.
Why It's Important?
With declining movie theater attendance, initiatives like 'Family Sundays' play a crucial role in cultivating a new generation of moviegoers. By providing a welcoming and interactive environment, Facets encourages children to engage with films in a meaningful way, potentially fostering a lifelong appreciation for cinema. The program also addresses the need for more inclusive and sensory-friendly movie experiences, making the arts accessible to a broader audience.
