What's Happening?
The Michigan 4-H Foundation is calling for nominations for the Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Award. This award honors outstanding 4-H volunteers who have demonstrated excellence in youth education and leadership development across various agricultural disciplines, including beef cattle, dairy cattle, and horticulture. Up to five honorees are recognized annually, each receiving a $1,000 grant to support a 4-H agricultural program of their choice. The award is supported by an endowment from the Michigan Farm Bureau, highlighting the ongoing commitment to fostering agricultural education and leadership among youth.
Why It's Important?
The MFB 4-H Excellence in Agriculture Award plays a crucial role in recognizing and encouraging volunteer
efforts that contribute to the development of future agricultural leaders. By supporting educational programs and leadership development, the award helps sustain the agricultural industry by preparing the next generation of farmers and agricultural professionals. This initiative not only benefits the individuals involved but also strengthens the agricultural community by promoting best practices and innovative approaches to farming and livestock management.
What's Next?
Nominations for the award are open until March 15, with the selection process involving a committee of agriculture and 4-H program representatives. The recognition of honorees will take place later in the year, providing an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of dedicated volunteers. The award is expected to inspire more individuals to engage in 4-H programs, thereby enhancing the impact of agricultural education and leadership development across Michigan.
