What's Happening?
LA28 has announced a presale for Visa cardholders ahead of the second Olympic ticket drop, scheduled to begin on August 10. The presale will run from July 29 to 31, exclusively for Visa cardholders, as Visa is the only credit card accepted in Olympic zones.
Fans must confirm their Visa cardholder status to participate. Those who have registered for the LA28 ticket account can update their status to be eligible for the presale. The second ticket drop will offer tickets across all Olympic sports, with prices starting at $28. Half of the 1 million $28 tickets were sold during the first presale, which was reserved for locals near venue cities in Southern California and Oklahoma City. Fans can register for the second ticket drop until July 22, and those who registered for the first drop but did not purchase their full allotment are automatically entered into the lottery for the second drop.
Why It's Important?
The presale and subsequent ticket drop are significant as they provide fans with an opportunity to secure tickets for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, a major international event. The presale for Visa cardholders highlights the longstanding partnership between Visa and the Olympics, emphasizing the importance of corporate sponsorships in facilitating large-scale events. The ticket sales strategy, including the presale and lottery system, aims to manage demand and ensure a wide distribution of tickets. This approach could influence future ticketing strategies for large events, balancing accessibility and exclusivity. The pricing strategy, with tickets starting at $28, aims to make the Olympics more accessible to a broader audience, potentially increasing public engagement and support for the Games.
What's Next?
Fans selected for the Visa presale will be notified of their time slot on July 27. Those not selected for the presale will still have a chance to participate in the second ticket drop, with email notifications for time slots sent out from August 6 to 7. The second ticket drop will run from August 10 to 20, offering a range of tickets across all Olympic sports. As the event approaches, further announcements regarding ticket availability and additional presales may occur. The success of the presale and ticket drop could impact future marketing and sales strategies for the LA28 organizing committee, as they aim to generate $2.5 billion in ticketing and hospitality revenue to support the privately funded Games.
