Ghost, a giant Pacific octopus residing at the Long Beach Aquarium, has died after entering senescence, a natural end-of-life process following egg-laying. Ghost, who arrived at the aquarium in May 2024, grew from three pounds to over 50 pounds and was
between two and four years old at the time of her death. The aquarium staff provided Ghost with specialized care, including enrichment activities and high-quality seafood.
