The Pebble Watch Round 2, a highly anticipated smartwatch, is experiencing further delays due to manufacturing issues. According to Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, the smartwatch is not yet ready for mass production. The delay is attributed to a cosmetic
defect discovered during a visit to China, where a small indentation was found near the strap lug connection point, caused by the CNC machining process. To address this, adjustments are being made to the die for metal injection molding to avoid the CNC cut. As a result, shipments of the Pebble Round 2 are now expected to begin in July, with all pre-ordered units anticipated to be shipped by September. The smartwatch, priced at $199, features a 1.3-inch display capable of showing 64 colors and processing touch input, with a battery life of around two weeks. However, it lacks a heart rate monitor, a feature common in many modern smartwatches.
