What's Happening?
Preservation Distillery has released a new 10-year Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey as part of its 'Vintage Hermitage Collection.' Dubbed 'Vintage 2016,' this bourbon is crafted from stocks distilled in 2016, featuring a traditional corn/rye/malted barley
mashbill. The release is composed of 3-barrel micro batches, blended under the guidance of Marci Palatella and Kyle Lloyd. The bourbon is noted for its robust 130.7 proof and complex flavor profile, including notes of cherry candy, cinnamon sugar, and black walnut extract. Preservation Distillery, despite its small size, continues to make a significant impact among whiskey aficionados.
Why It's Important?
This release highlights the growing interest in high-quality, small-batch bourbons, reflecting a broader trend in the spirits industry towards artisanal and craft products. Preservation Distillery's approach to blending and maturation showcases the potential for smaller producers to compete with larger brands by focusing on quality and unique flavor profiles. The bourbon's high proof and complex taste may appeal to connoisseurs seeking distinctive and bold experiences, potentially influencing market trends and consumer preferences in the premium spirits sector.
Beyond the Headlines
The success of Preservation Distillery's latest offering may encourage other small distilleries to innovate and experiment with aging and blending techniques. This could lead to a diversification of bourbon offerings and a shift in consumer expectations towards more personalized and unique spirits. Additionally, the emphasis on traditional methods and high-quality ingredients may drive a renewed appreciation for craftsmanship in the industry, impacting how bourbon is marketed and perceived globally.
