at a young age when he started selling pretzels from his "Awesome Pretzel" bicycle cart. This early venture into the food business was a collaborative effort with his father, who helped him build the cart. Fieri's passion for food continued to grow, leading him to work at the Red Lion Inn restaurant in Eureka, California.
Fieri's educational journey took him to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel management in 1990. This academic background laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the culinary world.
Building a Culinary Career
After college, Fieri's career in the food industry began to take shape. He worked as a manager at Parker's Lighthouse in Long Beach, California, before becoming the district manager of Louise's Trattoria, overseeing six locations. In 1996, Fieri and his business partner Steve Gruber opened Johnny Garlic's, a "California Pasta Grill" in Santa Rosa, California. This venture marked the beginning of Fieri's restaurant empire, which would eventually expand to include multiple locations and concepts.
Fieri's entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop there. He co-developed Tex Wasabi's, a unique blend of barbecue and sushi, further showcasing his innovative approach to food. His ventures in the restaurant industry laid the groundwork for his future success on television.
