The structure is supported by 1,750 columns and 216 raking beams, with retaining walls stretching 900 meters around the field.
The bowl form of the stadium is created by 1,780 pre-cast concrete seating panels, offering over 80,000 square meters of floor space within the stadium. The façade is surrounded by over 100 columns, with the tallest reaching 46 meters. Perforated metal sheeting and aluminum fins complete the exterior design, adding to the stadium's modern look.
Versatility and Future Plans
Moses Mabhida Stadium is a multi-use venue, hosting events such as bungee jumping, concerts, cricket, soccer, golf practice, motorsports, and rugby union. Its versatility is set to increase with planned upgrades, including a new Sky Car, a larger viewing platform, and additional attractions like a sea-facing bungee jump and zip line.
