He even formed his own acoustic music group, The International Singers, which performed across clubs and colleges in California.
After high school, Allwine briefly toured with the instrumental rock band Davie Allan & the Arrows, showcasing his skills on rhythm guitar, harmonica, and sax mouthpiece. His musical journey continued as he became an accomplished Dixieland jazz drummer, occasionally performing with George Probert's Monrovia Old Style Jazz Band.

Allwine's career at Disney began in 1966 when he started working in the mailing room. His dedication and talent soon led him to the sound effects department, where he worked under the guidance of Jimmy MacDonald, the second official voice of Mickey Mouse.
