5 and Jolly LLB 3 this year, is preparing for an exhilarating lineup of releases for 2026–2027. The actor is already set to collaborate again with Priyadarshan for three upcoming projects, Bhooth Bangla, Haiwaan, and Hera Pheri 3, with the first two anticipated to debut next year. Additionally, he has Welcome To The Jungle in the works. Now, he’s joining forces once more with another renowned director with whom he has previously achieved box office success.
Not ‘Ram Aur Shyam,’ But a New Family Comedy
While recent reports indicated that Akshay Kumar is reuniting with Anees Bazmee for a double-role comedy titled Ram Aur Shyam, Pinkvilla has discovered that the project is actually a different film entirely.
A source close to the situation disclosed, “Akshay Kumar is leading Anees Bazmee’s next film, which is not a double-role comedy but a new family comedy-drama.”
The untitled film will be produced by Telugu film producer Dil Raju under his banner, Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Production Schedule and Casting Information
As per the source, the film is currently in pre-production, with plans to commence filming in February 2026. Casting for the female lead and other significant roles is in progress.
Like all of Bazmee’s previous works, this project will feature a robust ensemble cast, ensuring delightful entertainment for viewers of all ages.

Anees Bazmee most recently directed Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024). He was initially set to direct No Entry 2 featuring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Arjun Kapoor, but that film has now been postponed.
