Ameesha Patel on celebrities with purchased social media followers
Commenting on the trend of casting actors based on their social media presence, Ameesha stated to Zoom, "There's a common misconception that having followers translates to box office success. A staggering 90 percent of those millions of followers are acquired through purchase. I can attest that for years, social media has evolved into a monetizable platform, with agencies approaching individuals claiming they can provide millions of followers for a certain amount of money."
The actress further disclosed, "We have all been approached by them. Many celebrity social media accounts in the public eye (across various fields) have a significant portion of their followers purchased. These followers are not genuine. I have been solicited numerous times to pay for additional followers, but I always declined, stating, 'No, I prefer authentic fans.' I don't want people following me because I paid for it."

Ameesha Patel on her social media activity
As the conversation continued, the Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai actress mentioned that her social media updates are spontaneous. In fact, she aims to avoid giving anyone the false impression that her posts are 'choreographed and staged' on social media.
"My Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts are genuine. I never schedule photo shoots, and my images lack those perfect compositions, captions, and fonts. I am simply myself. That's what I want the audience and everyone to see—the authentic me. Not something that is pre-planned, choreographed, and meticulously arranged to look flawless. Because no one's life is flawless. I refuse to create a misleading impression of having something so orchestrated and staged," she expressed, before concluding.
