Arasan,
the much-anticipated film starring Silambarasan TR and helmed by Vetrimaaran, has hit an unexpected roadblock. The shoot has been halted due to an ongoing dispute between the actor and producer Ishari K Ganesh over a previous film that never materialised. The situation has escalated with the involvement of film industry bodies. Back the team of the film, actor-director T Rajendar has stepped in, raising concerns about fairness and calling for a solution to the issue affecting the film which is headlined by his son.
Silambarasan TR's Arasan Shoot Halted After Ishari K Ganesh Files Complaint
The issue traces back to a film that was planned after Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu but never took off. According to reports, Silambarasan had received an advance of Rs 5 crore for the proposed film. However, delays and lack of progress led to tensions between the actor and the producer, with blame being exchanged over why the project failed to take off. This unresolved issue has now directly impacted Arasan. As the issue grew, prominent film bodies such as the Nadigar Sangam and the Film Employees Federation of South India intervened. Their involvement led to the suspension of the film’s shoot.
Actor-director T Rajendar has openly questioned the halt, questioning the fairness of the move. Distancing himself from directly defending the film, he stated that his concern lies with justice and due process. He said he is not here to argue on behalf of Arasan or his son Silambarasan. He said he is here only to point out that the Tamil Film Producers Council and FEFSI, who support this move, should not act unjustly. T Rajendar also said that he had supported his son in court during the dispute with Ishari K Ganesh, where the verdict was reportedly in favour of Silambarasan. He said that the advance paid for the film was legally deemed to belong to the actor. Continuing his appeal, T Rajendar urged organisations like the South Indian Artistes Association to step in and help resolve the matter amicably. He also announced plans to address the media soon.
Silambarasan TR's Previous Film Controversies
This is not the first time Silambarasan TR has faced challenges with industry bodies. In the past, he was issued a “red card” by the Tamil Film Producers Council over allegations of non-cooperation related to films like Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan and a Tamil remake of Mufti. The ban was later lifted after disputes were resolved, allowing him to feature in successful films like Maanaadu and Pathu Thala.
Directed by Vetrimaaran, Arasan features a strong ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, with actors like Vikranth and Kamalesh Jagan also joining the lineup. Produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, the film reportedly stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
