viral video has led to debate online after a social media influencer and artist claimed that fan-made artwork dedicated to Aamir Khan was found discarded in a Mumbai scrapyard. The actor is now at the centre of a controversy that has left many fans disappointed with him. Netizens are upset that the hard work of fans are not even valued by their favourite actors. While the claims made in the video are still unverified, the video has triggered conversations, the crux of which is mostly that celebrity worship in India should be stopped.
Aamir Khan fans' art found in scrapyard
The controversy began when an influencer, Satya Swagat, who goes by the handle @logokuhe on Instagram, shared a video from Mumbai’s Behram Baug second hand market. In the clip, he claimed to have stumbled upon a shop displaying several paintings, sketches and portraits of Aamir Khan. What caught his attention was the volume and detail of the artwork, which appeared to be fan-made creations. He began the video by saying, "I didn't expect this from Aamir Khan."
According to the influencer, he initially assumed that the artist might have discarded their own work. However, things took a surprising turn when the shopkeeper allegedly told him that the artworks had come from Aamir Khan’s office as scrap. “Yeh sab Aamir Khan ke office ke bhangaar mein aaya hai,” the shopkeeper reportedly said, a statement that left the influencer shocked and sad.In his video, the influencer expressed disappointment, pointing out the effort and emotion that fans invest in creating such artwork. He remarked that many artists likely spent hours crafting these pieces for their favourite star. While he acknowledged that celebrities may not have space to store every gift they receive, he suggested that the drawings could have been handled more respectfully, even if the frames were discarded separately.
The situation became more emotional when the influencer shared his personal experience at the shop. He recalled the shopkeeper offering to sell him a frame at a cheap price, suggesting that he could remove the artwork and replace it with another picture. This, he said, disturbed him enough to purchase one of the pieces himself in order to preserve it. He also said that the painting was not even a year old. He also clarified that his intention was not to spread hate but to encourage people to rethink the culture of idolising celebrities. However, these claims have not been officially confirmed by Aamir Khan or his team. Until a clarification comes, the incident remains a viral claim.
Netizens react to viral video
Now, the video is circulating, it has sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some users expressed disappointment and questioned the alleged actions, others pointed out that the actor is right at his place. One wrote, "There is a reason why we should not make actors our ideal", while another added, "I hope people will understand now that worshipping them is a waste of time." A netizen defended the actor by commenting, "Are you sure they were really given to Aamir Khan? That second hand market has lot of made up stories I go there often for antiques." A fan added, "He did a good job. Just because he is a celebrity, doesn't mean he has to accumulate all papers and scraps and arts that weren't asked for in his house." A few suggested that the actor should have auctioned the art instead of throwing them away.
