Kumar and Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla has taken over the box office. The horror comedy postponed its release from April 10 to April 17, and the decision definitely worked in favour. While the film had to share screens with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, the division couldn’t stop it from minting over Rs 100 crore worldwide within a week. Dethroning the espionage thriller from the week’s box office toppers list, Bhooth Bangla is now marching towards the Rs 150 crore mark. The India gross collection is inching closer to the Rs 100 crore mark, which appears to be achievable by the end of the first week.

According to Sacnilk’s report, Bhooth Bangla has earned Rs 127.37 crore worldwide in seven days. The film has reportedly collected Rs 78.90 crore in India nett, whereas the gross collection is Rs 93.87 crore. As Bhooth Bangla soars, Dhurandhar 2’s gradual decline has begun. What is Bhooth Bangla about?

Bhooth Bangla is set in the ghostly and quiet town of Mangalpur. Young brides and couples are prohibited from passing through, fearing mishaps and incidents of kidnapping and sudden deaths. Its resident demon Vadhusur is to be blamed. Despite being warned against getting his sister married in Mangalpur, Arjun Acharya (Akshay Kumar) challenges the demon. Later, when his father, Dr Vasudev Acharya (Jisshu Sengupta), a scholar of the Vedas and Hindu scriptures, reveals Vadhusur’s identity, Arjun has to protect his family from the unforeseen.

Bhooth Bangla also stars Tabu as Yashoda. Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajesh Sharma and Mithila Palkar feature in pivotal roles. Reportedly, the film is mounted on a lavish budget of Rs 120 crore. Paid previews for Bhooth Bangla were held on April 16.

Is Bhooth Bangla getting a sequel?

Amid the film’s successful run, the makers are reportedly planning its sequel. Bhooth Bangla has an open end, which could take the story further in multiple directions. As of now, there is no official confirmation from the production house.
