As fans gear up for the last battle in the Upside Down, they've drummed up some wild and crazy ideas about the final matchup with Vecna, aka Henry Creel, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. He and actor Noah Schnapp were asked about their opinion over certain characters taking on the villain in the series finale. Without giving away spoilers about the ending, here's how Bower and Schnapp reacted to the fan theory!
Jamie Campbell Bower, Noah Schnapp respond to fan theories about Vecna battle
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bower and Schnapp were asked to remember the scene from Season 4 where Erica (Priah Ferguson) needed to roll a 20 with the dice in the Dungeons and Dragons game to defeat Vecna. The fan theory states that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Eight (Linnea Berthelsen), and One with Will add up to 20, and it will be the trio who will join forces to beat Vecna. At first, the man who plays Vecna simply said, "Wow." He later shared, " Do you know that 1 and 11 in the Greek alphabet are alpha and omega? The beginning and the end. I asked Matt and Ross Duffer when we were shooting for Season 4, where I said, 'Does that have any meaning or reference?' And they were like, 'I don't think so.' I don't know if they were, like, bluffing. Do I think the fans are reading too much into it? I read too much into it. So maybe not."
Meanwhile, Schnapp seemed worried about going into spoiler territory and refused to give a definitive answer. He said, "Interesting, interesting. Very. Did they intend on that? I'm not sure about that." The actor did seem to be open to the idea that Will can turn bad as well. Schnapp went on to add, "There are definitely a lot of parallels between Vecna and Will, and it almost kind of reminds me of like
the Harry Potter/Voldemort parallels as well. So I watched those movies to kind of understand it a little bit better. But you know we will see. That's what the finale is all leading to. Like, who was he? And what do these parallels mean?" The final episode of
Stranger Things is two hours and eight minutes. The Duffer Brothers have stated that 40 minutes of the show is an epilogue.
