In an unexpected moment for both K-pop and event cinema, Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience led the charts on its opening Friday (February 6). Infact the film made its way through an otherwise slow theatrical weekend. According to The Numbers, the film grossed $3.2 million in ticket sales from 1,724 North American theaters on Day 1 alone.

It was previously reported that the ticket sales for the movie were strong even before release, US pre-sales surpassing $1.4 million in under 24 hours, prompting theaters to expand showtimes ahead of its release.It has managed to outpace new Hollywood releases. While rom-com Solo Mio starring Kevin James gathered sales of just over $3.18 million on its opening day, horror comedy Send Help with Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien moved down to third, with a $2.8 million take. In the fourth place was French filmmaker Luc Besson's Dracula, with $2.1 million in revenue.The momentum reflects Stray Kids' ever-growing clout and immense global fanbase. STAYs have come forward to support the band's cinematic offering, especially as the concert film screens in traditional theatres and premium formats like IMAX. It's estimated to reach $5 million in domestic ticket sales by the end of its opening weekend on Sunday.
