Adivi Sesh reveals why Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast is important to him
For
Adivi Sesh, the popular song from the 1994 film
Mohra, picturised on Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon, is far more than a musical throwback. It is closely tied to his childhood and his earliest memories of performing on stage. Growing up in the 90s,
Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast was one of his favourite tracks, and notably, it featured in the very first dance performance of his life during a school event. As a young student, Sesh performed a medley of songs, with this track being one of the highlights that marked his first-ever experience of entertaining an audience. While conceptualising the teaser of
Dacoit, Sesh was keen on recreating that sense of nostalgia. Determined to do it the right way, he ensured that the rights to the song were acquired legally, allowing its usage to feel authentic and respectful to the original creators.
Some songs stay with you forever: Adivi Sesh
Opening up about the emotional significance of the song, Adivi Sesh said, “Some songs stay with you forever, and Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast is one of those songs for me. Growing up in the 90s, this track was everywhere, and I absolutely loved it. It was actually part of the first dance performance I ever did on a school stage, in a medley of songs, and that moment is still very vivid in my memory. When we were working on the film, I felt an instinctive pull to bring this song in - not as a gimmick, but as a feeling."Revealing how deeply he is connected to the song, the actor said, "Using it as one the songs in the film was my way of tipping my hat to that younger version of myself who fell in love with music, performance, and the joy of entertaining people. We made sure to acquire the rights properly because it mattered to me that this homage was done the right way. It’s a small, personal memory woven into a much larger film, and I hope audiences feel that sense of nostalgia and energy when they hear it."
