Noted author-turned-filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee has been nominated for Best Debutant Director for his Bengali feature film Binodiini: Ekti Natir Upakhyan at the prestigious 56th International Film Festival
of India (IFFI) in Goa, under the Indian Panorama section. The director has been officially invited to attend the film’s screening and the award ceremony, scheduled for November 28 in Goa. Produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Dev Adhikari, the film has already earned critical acclaim and won prestigious awards in the USA and the UK.

Expressing his gratitude, Mukherjee shared, “This is an overwhelming moment for me as a filmmaker. The International Film Festival of India is among the most respected festivals globally. Binodiini: Ekti Natir Upakhyan is inspired by the life of Bengal’s legendary stage performer Binodini Dasi. The film stars Rukmini Maitra in the titular role, with veteran actor Kaushik Ganguly portraying Girish Chandra Ghosh, Rahul Bose as Ranga Babu, and Chandan Roy Sanyal as Sri Ramakrishna Paramhans. The music, composed by Sourendro-Soumyojit, features soulful tracks sung by Shreya Ghoshal, Rekha Bharadwaj, and Suchismita Das.With its latest nomination at IFFI, Binodiini: Ekti Natir Upakhyan adds yet another feather to Mukherjee’s cap and adds another achievement to his filmography.
