In a recent interview during Peddi promotions, Janhvi talked about discovering the true impact Sridevi had on people only after stepping into the film industry herself. The actor recalled how, despite being one of India’s biggest superstars, Sridevi kept her stardom away from her daughters and focused on being a hands-on mother at home. Janhvi also candidly acknowledged that the goodwill attached to Sridevi’s name has brought her opportunities.

Speaking about growing up with Sridevi as her mother,
Janhvi Kapoor shared that she did not fully understand the scale of her mother’s influence during childhood because Sridevi intentionally kept that side of her life away from the family. "I think I started discovering what she meant to people as I got into working myself," Janhvi said.
The actor fondly remembered simple domestic moments that made Sridevi feel like a 'superwoman' to her and her sister Khushi. "For us, the most superwoman-like thing she would do was like on a Friday, she'd go to the fish market and select which pomfret we should have and we'd be like, ‘Oh my god, yeah, mom got us the best fish,'" she recalled. According to Janhvi, Sridevi took 'pride' in caring for her family in the smallest ways despite being one of the most celebrated stars in the country.
Sridevi's legacy motivates Janhvi Kapoor
The actress said that the connection audiences shared with Sridevi over the years has been a blessing for her to discover. Janhvi also acknowledged that Sridevi’s stardom was something truly rare and almost impossible to recreate. "I think I'm very well aware that that's a generational thing. I think it happens once in a blue moon. I think forget me, I think for anyone to recreate that is close to impossible," she admitted.Despite the constant comparisons with her legendary mother, Janhvi said she is focused on building her own identity through honest work and dedication. At the same time, the actor openly admitted that Sridevi’s goodwill has positively impacted her career and given her opportunities that she remains grateful for. "I think all of it is a blessing. I think a lot of her goodwill has come on to me and has given me a lot of opportunities which I'm thankful for," Janhvi stated.
The actor also addressed the inevitable comparisons with Sridevi and said she sees them as motivation rather than pressure. "I'm being compared to the greatest actress of all time. So that'll just hopefully force me and give me the energy to do better and better in my craft," she said. She proudly said that there is no downside to carrying Sridevi's legacy forward.Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54 in Dubai. According to reports, the actor died due to accidental drowning in a hotel bathtub while attending a wedding celebration in the United Arab Emirates. Janhvi and Khushi have both spoken about how her death changed their lives forever.
