Jana Nayagan faces CBFC issue
Meanwhile, the makers of
Jana Nayagan have escalated the matter to the Supreme Court, challenging the Madras High Court’s decision to stay an earlier single-judge order that had ruled in the film’s favour. The High Court had directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withhold the film’s certificate, and during the second hearing on January 9, a division bench imposed a temporary stay on the order that had instructed the CBFC to grant a U/A certificate. The bench also pulled up the makers for announcing a release date without securing certification, remarking that it created a “false sense of urgency.”
Jana Nayagan maker shared video message apologising to fans
After the delay, producer Venkat K. Narayana released a video message addressing fans, distributors, and exhibitors. He apologised to those who were expecting the film to release as scheduled, stressing that the postponement was beyond the team’s control. He also spoke about Vijay’s legacy in Tamil cinema, stating that the actor deserves a fitting farewell after decades of contributions to the industry.
