Gaurav Gera opened up about his difficult journey. the actor revealed that nobody in his family belonged to the film industry. “Mere yahan koi filmon mein nahi tha,” he shared, adding that he was always inclined towards creativity, sketching, and performing arts despite coming from an academically strong family background.He also recalled briefly studying fashion before realising his true passion was acting and theatre. “Mujhe laga ye woh nahi hai jo main karna chahta hoon,” he said, explaining how he eventually decided to follow his passion with his father’s support. Speaking about his toughest phase in Mumbai, the actor revealed that he once had only Rs 84 in his bank account. “Main HDFC Bank ke saamne se guzarta tha aur bank ko dekh kar kehta tha, ‘Mera khayal rakhna,’” he said while recalling those difficult days. He added that he often walked long distances because he could not afford auto fares.
The actor also spoke emotionally about his father’s support during those struggling years. “Papa salaried person the… ‘Rs 2,000 bhej raha hoon, isse zyada nahi hai,’” he recalled from one of the letters his father had sent him. Despite the hardships, he said he never gave up hope. “Future is bright. I need to learn more,” he remembered writing to his family at the time. Reflecting on success today, the actor admitted he once took praise too seriously but later realised that “greatness wali feeling ahankaar laati hai,” adding that the industry constantly reminds people to stay grounded.
