About Michael sequel
The first movie chronicled
Michael Jackson’s rise from a child prodigy in the Jackson 5 to his reign as the King of Pop, but it concluded rather abruptly during the Bad World Tour at London’s Wembley Stadium. The ending hinted that the story wasn't over yet, and now Lionsgate has officially confirmed that fans will definitely get a second chapter.During Lionsgate’s quarterly earnings call on May 21, Motion Picture Group Chair Adam Fogelson revealed that discussions surrounding the sequel are progressing “exceptionally well.” According to Variety, the studio is highly optimistic about the next installment and believes there is still a wealth of compelling material left to explore from Jackson’s life and career. Fogelson explained that Michael sequel may not necessarily follow a straightforward chronological structure. Instead, the creative team is considering moving “forwards and backwards” in the timeline to highlight significant moments that were either skipped or only briefly touched upon in the first movie. This could include Jackson’s Dangerous and Invincible eras, the creation of Neverland Ranch, and several major personal and professional milestones.
Interestingly, a studio official also revealed that about 25 to 30 percent of the shooting for the sequel has already been completed. It is learned that most of this footage is taken from scenes that were originally made for the third installment of 'Michael' before the creative and legal changes to the film.Reports previously revealed that the original ending addressed the child abuse allegations made against Jackson. However, due to a legal clause connected to a past settlement involving accuser Jordan Chandler, the filmmakers were forced to significantly alter the conclusion and reshoot portions of the film. While those controversial scenes could not be used, other unused footage may now find a place in the sequel.
