A year ago on this day, the Pahalgam terror attack sent shockwaves across the country. Innocent lives changed forever after Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) opened fire at the picturesque tourist location in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025. It killed 26 people and left many families devastated. Shocking visuals from the attack continue to haunt the nation even today. Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the victims. He wrote, "Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss. As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed."Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that on this day, the country solemnly remembered the innocent lives lost in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack last year. He added that the grief and pain of losing those people still remained in the hearts of every Indian. He stated that terrorism is the greatest enemy of humanity and that everyone must stand united to fight and defeat it. He further said that India would continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbour it.After the Pahalgam attack, India launched a counter-military operation against Pakistan called Operation Sindoor, during which the Indian armed forces targeted and destroyed terror and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The move was also accompanied by restrictions on Pakistani actors’ social media accounts, YouTube channels, television shows, and related content to avoid "the spread of misinformation, anti-India sentiment, and communal disharmony."
