survived by his wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini and children, died at the age of 89. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to breathlessness. The Deols had earlier confirmed that the veteran actor was responding well to the treatment. However, today, he breathed his last.

Dharmendra, known to be a people’s person, was connected with residents of his village in Punjab. His last Instagram post celebrated the bond he shared with his people. In the video, the veteran actor could be seen seated in the driver’s seat of a tractor. He celebrated Dussehra and blessed his fans. Dharmendra said, “Dussehra ki dher saari shubhkamnaye. Bhagwan aapko lambi sehat de, khushiyaan de.”

Dharmendra, born as Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol in Punjab in 1935, became one of the most admired stars of Bollywood. He acted in films including Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dharam Veer, Chupke Chupke, Seeta Aur Geeta and many others. The actor is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their children – Sunny, Bobby, Ajeita and Vijeta Deol and grandsons Karan, Rajveer, Aaryaman and Dharam, along with his second wife Hema Malini and their daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. In 2023, Dharmendra played the lead role in Karan Johar’s
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He was paired with Shabana Azmi. Their adorable love story and a sensational kiss won over the audience. He also featured in
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya in a special appearance as Shahid Kapoor’s grandfather. In
Ikkis, he played a pivotal role along with Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia. Further details on his funeral are awaited.
