The
role of James Bond in the next spy-thriller is up for grabs and everyone is busy predicting who will make the cut. In a very surprising twist, John Abraham's name has not just come up, the actor has found support from none other than Shekhar Kapur. The director endorsed John as his personal choice to play the iconic British spy after Daniel Craig’s exit from the franchise. Kapur praised John’s 'shaken not stirred' personality and Bond-like charm, while also reminding fans that Daniel Craig himself was cast after producers noticed him in Kapur’s film Elizabeth. John, clearly delighted by the praise, responded with gratitude and added a witty angle to the conversation.
Shekhar Kapur wants John Abraham as the next James Bond
Taking to X, Shekhar Kapur openly declared his support for John Abraham becoming the next 007. The filmmaker said John possesses the cool personality, screen presence and charm required to portray Ian Fleming’s legendary spy. “As the search of the next Bond heats up, my vote for the next James Bond after Daniel Craig would be John Abraham. He has the cool ‘shaken not stirred’ persona and certainly good actor with the ‘Bond Charm’,” Kapur wrote, subtly reminding fans of his eye for talent.
John Abraham soon responded to Shekhar Kapur’s post with a sweet and humorous reply. Thanking the veteran filmmaker, John admitted that the praise meant a lot coming from someone who had once recognised Daniel Craig’s potential before the world accepted him as Bond. “Coming from someone who not only redefined storytelling but also had the instinct to spot Daniel Craig before the world saw Bond in him… this means a lot to me,” John wrote. The actor then jokingly addressed the possibility of becoming Bond by referencing the franchise’s iconic martini dialogue. “As for Bond… I’ll happily start practising my martini order immediately. Shaken, not stirred,” he added.
