After
a successful run in theatres, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar will be arriving on Netflix on January 30. Netflix India has confirmed the same by opening a reminder option for the audience. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the espionage thriller is still running in select theatres in the country. Dhurandhar’s OTT release has been anticipated by those who couldn’t watch the film in theatres due to varied reasons. It remains uncertain whether it would release in the six Gulf countries that skipped theatrical watching due to content restrictions. Dhurandhar was one of the longest Hindi films in recent years.
Dhurandhar OTT runtime revealed
The final runtime, with a post-credit scene, was recorded to be 3 hours and 34 minutes. However, according to
Netflix, the duration will be 3 hours and 25 minutes. As an official confirmation from the film’s team is awaited on this, it is unclear whether nine minutes were chopped due to its global release, possibly including countries like Pakistan.
Will Dhurandhar release in Gulf countries?
Dhurandhar, a political spy thriller centered around India and Pakistan’s tumultuous relationship and enmity, was banned in Gulf countries - UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman due to its anti-Pakistan theme. Distributors revealed later that the film incurred around Rs 90 crore loss because of the restriction. The Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) appealed to the government to intervene and clear its Gulf release. Despite this, Dhurandhar earned Rs 1350 crore (and counting).
