Jaitly's brother, Major (retd.) Vikrant Jaitly has been detained in the UAE since September 2024. After a long battle, the actress got major relief today (February 3). According to a news agency, the Delhi High Court directed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to provide legal aid for the actress' brother. The MEA was asked to issue an order in favour of Al Maree Partners, a legal firm willing to represent Vikrant Jaitly on pro bono basis. That said, the next hearing in the matter is scheduled to take place on February 10, 2026.
Update on Celina Jaitly's brother Vikrant's detention case
According to ANI, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav
directed the MEA to provide legal representation for Celina's brother, Virkant. The court further stated that if there is any impediment in issuing the order, the same must be mentioned in an affidavit.
Celina's legal counsel Raghav Kacker assisted by advocates Madha Agrawal and Suradhish Vats suggested the legal firm, Al Maree Partners. It was also submitted that the firm had independently obtained case details and was willing to represent Vikrant Jaitly free of cost.Having said that, the counsel for the MEA opposed the submission. It also stated that the above-mentioned legal firm's namea is already among the four other legal firms suggested by Celina's brother. Apart from that, it was mentioned that Vikrant had already informed embassy officials that his wife Charu had taken the decision to engage a legal firm.
What Celina Jaitly said about Delhi HC's order?
Speaking to the news agency, Celina expressed that it has been 18-month-long battle for her. The actress added that her brother finally got his dignity after a long wait. "The Justice kindly passed the order for Almarri Partners and advocates in the UAE to represent Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly... We want to bring him back, and I'm sure now things will move in a very positive direction and very fast...," she said.
About Vikrant Jaitly's detention
In a petition that she filed earlier, Celina claimed that her brother Vikrant was illegally abducted and detained in the UAE. On November, 2025, the Delhi HC had directed the MEA to felicitate legal assistance to Celina's brother and communication between them. MEA was also asked to appoint nodal officer to oversee the matter.Meanwhile, on the work front, the actress was last seen in a short film, Season's Greeting. She played the role of Romita.
