One of India’s most legendary singers, Asha Bhosle has left for her heavenly abode. The legend, fondly called Asha Tai, died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday (April 12). The sad news of her demise was confirmed by her son, Anand Bhosle. The veteran singer had been battling a chest infection, as revealed by her family earlier. A day before her death, she was admitted to the hospital due to extreme exhaustion. She died of multi-organ failure this morning, revealed Dr Pratit Samdani. Her passing has left the film industry and the nation heartbroken, with tributes and condolences pouring in on social media.Asha Bhosle Funeral To Be Held TomorrowMaharashtra Cultural Minister Ashish Shelar also confirmed her death while speaking to the media. that her last rites will be held tomorrow at 4:00 PM at Shivaji Park in Mumbai's Dadar."Today, the entire country and Maharashtra are mourning the end of an era. Her work and her music were a source of joy not only for India but for the entire world... Tomorrow, from 11 am to 3 pm, her loved ones will be able to pay their last respects at her home in Lower Parel. Her last rites will be performed at the Shivaji Park crematorium at 4 pm. She will be cremated with full state honours," he said.Asha Bhosle Passes AwayConfirming the demise, Anand told ANI that his mother had passed away that day. He added that people can pay their last respects to her at 11 am the following day at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she had lived.Asha Tai leaves behind an unmatched musical legacy that spanned several decades. Known for her versatility and timeless voice, she was one of the most celebrated singers in Indian cinema. Her fan following stretched across generations.In her illustrious career, she gave countless memorable songs, including classics like Dum Maro Dum, Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, In Aankhon Ki Masti, and Rangeela Re. From romantic and soulful melodies to peppy cabaret numbers, her ability to adapt to different genres made her a favourite among composers and audiences alike. Over the years, she worked with some of the greatest music directors of Indian cinema and continued to sing well into her later years.
