Artificial Intelligence, or AI is slowly and steadily becoming a major part of our life - especially on a professional level. And the maxed out use of the same has already impacted a lot of jobs. Now,
a new report by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) suggested that up to 3 million low-skilled jobs will get extinct by 2035 because of the rapid growth of AI and automation. The report also said that the overall economy could still add new 2.3 million new jobs in the same period, but the gains of the same will not be uniformly distributed in the industry. The biggest impact of the same will come on the mechanical jobs, like those in administrative roles, machine operations, and trades. Apart from that, it will also increase the demand of highly skilled professionals like educators, scientists, and engineers as people from these disciplines will play a key role in the further development of AI and automation on a large scale.
Everything You Need To Know About The Latest Report
As suggested by NFER, jobs like administrative assistants in factory, machine operators, cashiers, warehouse workers, and people in trade jobs like roofing, electrical work, and plumbing, could face the most heat because of the automation and AI. On the contrary, all the roles that demand creativity, decision making, and tackling complex situations are at least risk of getting impacted by the same. Furthermore, the report also stated that the demands in sectors like healthcare, education, management, and psychology will increase. However, there are chances that base-level jobs in these professions will also get killed by automation.

That said, we can already see the impact of AI, as 2025 brought a lot of job cuts from the biggest of the tech players in the market. These job cuts obviously paint a picture, and a rather scary one to be precise. And multiple reports in the same also suggest the same, that in the coming times, a lot of job cuts are on the way. All in all, it can be said that the future is going to be a little tough for a segment, along with being a boon for others.
