BTS leader RM has once again sparked intense discussion among fans after sharing a deeply introspective and emotional message on social media, shortly following his candid remarks about HYBE’s treatment
of the group. Loved by ARMYs for his thoughtful words and emotional honesty, RM’s latest post struck a chord with ARMYs worldwide, especially as it came amid renewed attention on BTS’ relationship with their agency. Alongside the message, RM also shared two subdued selfies, where he appeared visibly pensive and low-spirited, further amplifying concern and empathy from fans.
RM wants fans to be kind to themselves
Taking to X,
RM posted a long, reflective note urging compassion toward oneself while addressing themes of guilt, self-blame, and emotional exhaustion. He wrote, “Be kind to yourself. It takes courage to show kindness to your own small self, the one that blames itself for every little mistake that happens in life.In a self-deprecating way, he continued, "If you think that what happened is your fault, like I do. And like I do. If you find yourself looking back at the past, trying to undo your mistakes, and beating yourself up over what you should have done differently, then hear me out. It's already happened. You can go back to the past and blame yourself as much as you want, but in the end, all you'll find is the past version of yourself who didn't know the information you have now. No matter how much you replay the past, your current situation won't change."He ended the note with, "And you can blame yourself for as long as you want, but all it does is trap you in a vicious cycle of self-loathing and the desire to forgive yourself. Someday, you'll realize that what happened may or may not have been your fault, but the way you're treating yourself right now is definitely a conscious choice."
RM's disappointment with HYBE
The message quickly went viral, with fans interpreting it as RM grappling with internal conflict following his recent public comments. The timing of the post drew particular attention because it came days after BTS’ OT7 live on Weverse on December 21. The livestream was meant to be a celebratory moment, as all seven members - RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook - came together to wish fans ahead of Christmas and the New Year, celebrate V’s birthday in advance, and tease what they described as a “crazy” upcoming comeback album. However, the mood briefly shifted when RM made an unexpectedly pointed remark about their agency. “I wish our company had some affection for us,” he said, catching both fans and fellow members off guard. Jimin immediately burst into laughter, seemingly surprised by RM’s honesty, while J-Hope asked, “Why? What’s the reason?” Jin attempted to smooth things over by defending the company, saying, “Doesn't the company care? They work hard for us.” RM, however, stood firm and calmly replied, “I don't usually say things like this, right? I just don't know. I wish they would look after us and treat us with more care.”While RM did not directly reference HYBE in his later post, many fans connected the dots feel it is the emotional toll of speaking up. The selfies he shared, where he appeared forlorn and distant, only deepened the emotional impact of his words.
