The
much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 is facing roadblocks again due to its ongoing legal troubles and director Priyadarshan’s prior commitments, as said by Shankar. Fans appear to be disappointed as they await their favourite cast Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, back on screens with their excellent comedy deliveries.
Why Rohan Shankar backed out?
Writer Rohan Shankar, who wrote the teaser for Hera Pheri 3, said in an interview with News 18 that “I was in talks, and it was supposed to happen, but it didn’t because of legal issues.” He hinted that if Hera Pheri 3 happens with Priyadarshan, maybe he can rejoin the team. Shankar wanted to work on the film, but the constant hurdles of legalities made him take a step back.
Hera Pheri happening soon or not?
When asked what he meant by “if Priyadarshan sir is there", he emphasised that “No, Priyan sir, because he is doing a lot of work, we have just shot Bhoot Bangla and Haiwan, and now he has to do another film. After that, he has to do a film with Mohanlal sir, which is his 100th film… He doesn’t stop. Priyan sir works a lot. Priyan sir and Akshay sir are workaholics." His statements leave fans with the anticipation that the film might restart soon, but with hints of uncertainty amid legal setbacks and the director’s unavailability.
The legal hurdles
Seven Arts International has moved to the Madras Court over the ownership and rights held by the current producers. The legal battle has become troublesome for the team as the Court interrogates and deliberates whether Hera Pheri 3 should be certified or not, given the scenario. According to the reports by Bar and Bench, only one Hindi remake was consented to by Nadiadwala of the Malayalam Ramji Rao Speaking, released in 1989. Claims involve that there was a misuse of rights by the original producer. All the legal troubles contributed to further holds with the cast, including actors' disagreements, creating uncertainties to the film’s production.
