Rahul Bose has landed in trouble as he has been accused of fraud in the Himachal rugby domicile scandal. For the unversed, the actor is also a former rugby player, and now, he is at the centre of a fraud case after the allegations surfaced regarding his acquisition of a state domicile certificate to become the national president of the Rugby Federation.

According to India Today report, the case highlights concerns about the administrative processes and the governance of sports associations in the mentioned region. The controversy started in 2023 after Rahul Bose had promised to the royal family of Shimla that he would help them establish and recognise a state-level rugby association. However, two years later, the promise never got fulfilled, which eventually resulted in unrest among local rugby supporters. A member of the royal family of the Jubbal princely state in Shimla, Divya Kumari has alleged that after two years of hard work, an association with the hundreds of members from several districts is being sidelined. Moreover, a new rugby association is also being formed from scratch. She even questioned Bose’s domicile certificate’s validity. She stated that he needs to obtain two votes from Himachal Pradesh in the selection process. Divya Kumari also alleged that Rahul Bose is from Kolkata and has an Aadhaar card, a passport and a domicile certificate from Maharashtra, where he worked in the film industry. Despite having the documents, he also possesses a domicile certificate from Himachal Pradesh. Hence, the matter has been escalated to the Himachal Pradesh High Court, where Divya Kumari has formally registered her grievances and demanded an investigation in the matter.
