Peddi Box Office Collection Day 7: Ram Charan-Janhvi Kapoor Film Dips Again, Earns Rs 7.55 Crore

Charan’s Peddi, one of the most hyped films of the year, finally hit screens on June 4. Starring Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, the Buchi Babu Sana directorial opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, it still had a strong opening at the box office. On its first day in theatres, it crossed the Rs 50 crore mark. The sports drama then entered the Rs 100 crore club in its opening weekend. However, the crucial Monday test impacted footfall, and since then, the film has been witnessing a steady decline.

On Day 7, Peddi earned Rs 7.55 crore net in India across languages. Telugu dominated with Rs 6.10 crore and 24% occupancy, while Hindi added Rs 1.25 crore. Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam contributed marginally, with lower collections and occupancy levels.Its total box office collection now stands at Rs 187. 25 crore. Now, the film is eyeing the Rs 200 crore mark.

Despite the weekday drop, Peddi is performing better than its competitors at the box office. It is locking horns with Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai, Obsession, Bandar, Masters of the Universe and other films at the ticket windows. Notably, it is way ahead in the numbers race.

Peddi Controversy

Soon after its release in theatres, the South sports drama faced criticism for a scene where Ram Charan’s character kisses Janhvi Kapoor without her consent. Many viewers found it inappropriate and raised objections against the makers. Close-up shots of the actress' body also left audiences irked. The controversy reignited the debate around the portrayal of women in films.While Janhvi did not comment on the issue, director Buchi Babu Sana clarified his intention behind the scenes. He later said that the controversial and other "vulgar" scenes would be removed from the film.
