Hyoyeon
from the K-pop group Girls' Generation has opened up about the clashes she had with the members. Kim Hyo-Yeon aka Hyoyeon's recent shocking confessions come almost a month after sharing her frustration regarding the persistent appearance-based criticism she often faces, and the psychological toll of being judged solely on her physicality rather than artistic merit. The 36-year-old got candid about her relationship with the 8-member band Girls' Generation under SM Entertainment, where she debuted in 2007. From being the main dancer, she rose to become a notable K-pop idol and, eventually, a DJ, working under the stage name HYO.
Hyoyeon's candid confessions
During her appearance as a guest on Super Junior Donghae and Eunhyuk's YouTube channel, Hyoyeon shared stories about her time with the band. On January 19, soon after the episode got released, her anecdotes grabbed attention.Looking back at their practice sessions, Hyoyeon said, "In the past, when someone suggested an opinion, the usual response was ‘Okay, we’ll do it,’ but now some friends clearly express their opinions by saying, ‘No, I think it’s better not to do this.’""I think there has to be that kind of atmosphere in a group. So I once spoke firmly. I made them give valid reasons for things, and when they didn’t, they’d say, ‘We’ll do it without you.’ I’m a type T. But I guess they didn’t expect me to say that. About a year ago, they told me they felt really hurt about it," Hyoyeon added.
Does Girls' Generation members fight?
On being asked whether the members fight too, the idol shared, "We’re actually the type that hardly fight. We hear about fights in other girl groups, but I think it’s natural to fight sometimes. After all, when working, it’s impossible to always have the same opinion. But we all tend to take a step back and look at things, so we rarely fight. If you ask who the troublemaker in fights is, it’s me."She confessed to being the one behind the "biggest fight" during the group activities. "The majority of the members versus me," she quipped.
Hyoyeon behind a major fight
"There was a rehearsal to go into, but because of me, we couldn’t start rehearsal. That causes a bad relationship with the broadcast station, right? Because of me. It was a situation like that. I got delayed because on the way back from Yongpyeong skiing, the car turned back, and I had to call another car to come get me. I apologized to the broadcast station, but I didn’t to the members," she looked back."I thought if I told them, they’d be worried and care about me — I wanted to come so badly but had an accident. So I didn’t apologize to the members. But to them, it was work. It’s not ‘you’re late because you had an accident, are you hurt?’ It’s work, and that’s why they got upset," she said."I was clueless and said things like, ‘Let’s cheer up, fighting!’ So two members came to me and said, ‘This isn’t the right mood. You should apologize to the members first.’ That’s when I realized that’s what I needed to do," she explained.
