Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle's younger sister Usha Mangeshkar, fondly remembered her elder siblings who have passed away. 90-year-old Usha, one of the five children of music icon Deenanath Mangeshkar, and his youngest daughter, is a singer herself. She is known for her devotional songs in the movie Jai Santoshi Maa (1975). During the 18th Newsmakers Awards 2026 in Mumbai on May 1, Usha reflected on Lata and Asha's musical legacy and expressed her personal grief at the demise of the latter recently. While Lata Mangeshkar died at the age of 92 in 2022, Asha Bhosle died at the same age on April 12, 2026.

At the event, Usha Mangeshkar was asked about her emotions about the vacuum in her family. She said, "In the last 8 years, I lost two of my elder sisters. I'm shocked, the whole nation is in shock about losing two of the greatest singers. India will never see such legends again."Addressing the media, the singer further shared that she feels lonely and sad, reminiscing about her shared childhood and lifelong bond with her elder sisters. "I have so many memories. We've grown up together, so there will obviously be memories. Sharing everything is impossible." She added, "You do feel lonely. So instead of staying at home, one needs to step out to feel light."
