Singh’s Dhurandhar has been creating a solid buzz amongst the masses. Ever since the trailer of the film was dropped on social media a few days ago, fans can’t keep calm to watch Dhurandhar on the big screen. While the film claimed to be inspired by actual events, rumours suggest that Ranveer’s character is based on Major Mohit Sharma, who had gone undercover as Iftikhar Bhatt and infiltrated Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s. Now, director Aditya Dhar has reacted to the rumours and denied any links to Major Mohit Sharma’s life.
Aditya Dhar breaks silence
Aditya Dhar reacted to an X post in which he was tagged and asked whether Ranveer Singh’s character is indeed based on Major Mohit Sharma. The URI director issued clarification over the reports and mentioned that it is not based on his life. Aditya Dhar’s X post read, “Hi, sir - our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honors his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us.” (sic)

Coming back to Dhurandhar, the film also features Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles. It is releasing on December 5, 2025, in theatres.
