Donald Glover returned to the stage to headline the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival on November 22 in Los Angeles. Glover, who performs under the name Childish Gambino, revealed why he had to cancel his tour last
year. He told the stunned crowd that he suffered a stroke last year and even joked about copying Jamie Foxx on the stage. Here's what the actor-musician said on his return.
Donald Glover suffered a stroke during Childish Gambino concert tour
While performing at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw, Glover finally shared the health troubles that derailed his New World Tour in 2024. At Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, Glover revealed, "I was having lots of fun, really loving seeing you guys out there, and I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana. I did the show anyway. I couldn't really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, 'You had a stroke.'"He joked about the medical scare and said, "And the first thing I thought was like, 'Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx' [who suffered a stroke in 2023]. That's really like the second thing. The first thing was like, 'I'm letting everybody down.'"

He continued, "I've broken my foot. I always promise Ireland I'm gonna be there, and I still haven't been, and they found a hole in my heart, so I had to do surgery, and then I had to have another surgery."The
Mr and Mrs Smith star got candid as he told the crowd, "They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You got one life, guys. And I gotta be honest, the life I've lived with you guys has been such a blessing. I love singing and performing for you guys. You should be living your life how you want because if we have to do this again, it can only get better."
2024 New World Tour cancellation
Last year, while cancelling the tour, Glover had posted on social media, "After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent. It became clear I would not perform that night. After more tests, I could not perform the rest of the U.S. tour in the time asked. As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal. My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously."
