member Song Min-Ho has been charged with violating the Military Service Act. It has been alleged that Song Mino was absent from work for a period of 102 days without permission. This was when Min-Ho was serving as a social service worker at the Facilities Management Corporation and Public Convenience Facilities in Mapo-gu. On April 21, the criminal division 10 of the Seoul Western District Court held the first trial hearing for Min-Ho. During the trial, the prosecution requested a prison sentence for the WINNER member.
Song Min-Ho to face 1.6 years of prison sentence?
According to a report by
Soompi, the prosecution sought a prison sentence of one year and six months for Song Min-Ho. The prosecutor stated that the defendant was apparently absent without leave for prolonged period and didn't perform any actual duties.On the other hand, Song's side pleaded for leniency and acknowledged all facts about the indictment. For the unversed, Min-Ho was absent without leave for
102 days out of the 430 days he was required to report for work. Min-Ho's lawyer even mentioned that he blames himself for failing to fulfill his duties. The lawyer added that the WINNER member was suffering from mental health issues and physical pain due to cervical disc rupture.
Song Min-Ho's side further requested the court to take the above-mentioned things into account when determining the sentence. A report by
allkpop also mentioned Min-Ho's final statement, where he expressed his wish to serve again. He spoke about undergoing treatment, hoping that he recovers as soon as possible. "And if given the opportunity to re-enlist, I will complete my service faithfully to the end," he said.As for service supervisor, identified as Mr Lee, he denied allegations of violating the Military Service Act. Mr Lee stated that he never conspired with Song Min-Ho to help him evade service.
Song Min-Ho's final statement to court
In his final statement to court, Song Min-Ho apologised to everyone in the courtroom. He further opened up about suffering from bipolar and panic disorder. "I know that this illness must never be used as an excuse or a justification. As someone loved by many, I am truly sorry for showing such a shameful side of myself, failing to set an example," he mentioned.
