Vijay and RB Choudary's bond
Vijay is one of the biggest superstars that Tamil cinema has ever seen, but his early journey in the industry was not so smooth. Despite being launched by his father, filmmaker S. A. Chandrasekhar, Vijay initially faced a series of setbacks and struggled to find acceptance among audiences. The turning point came when Choudary backed director Vikraman’s vision and produced Poove Unakkaga in 1996. The film marked a major shift in Vijay’s career, helping him break out of his limited youth appeal and connect with family audiences.
Their successful collaboration continued with films like Thulladha Manamum Thullum, where Vijay showcased a more emotional and vulnerable side. Later, in 2005, Choudary once again backed Vijay in Thirupaachi, a film that helped him transition into a full-fledged mass action hero. Their association extended over the years, culminating in Jilla, which brought together Vijay and Mohanlal in a major cross-industry collaboration. The film further expanded Vijay’s reach across South India.
