The numbers of the comic caper dropped miserably on day 4, all thanks to working day and negative word of mouth about the film. Varun Dhawan starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai minted Rs 3.50 crore only on day 4. The numbers are rather shocking, not only for VD fans but also for the cine lovers. In four days, the comedy film earned only Rs 27.50 crore at the box office in India. Notably, the film ran in theatres with only 11 per cent of occupancy. On day 4, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’s collections dropped by 61.1 per cent. On Sunday, the film minted Rs 9 crore at the box office. As far as its worldwide collections are concerned, Varun Dhawan’s recent film earned Rs 41.43 crore.
For the unversed, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai faced tough competition from Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s pan-India film,
Peddi. The Buchi Babu Sana-directed film crossed Rs 150 crore at the box office in India. It released in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada. On the other hand, the Varun Dhawan starrer is struggling to mint numbers at the box office. The collections are expected to drop in the upcoming days of this week.

Before the release, David Dhawan announced that the film is going to be his last directorial venture. The veteran filmmaker announced his retirement from direction after making 46 films in his career.
