Nayanthara on saying yes to Shah Rukh Khan with Jawan
Atlee's Jawan was a star-studded affair with Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, and cameos by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt. It also marked the first time Nayanthara and Shah Rukh worked together. The actress revealed that she agreed to the film only because of SRK.

She told The Hollywood Reporter India, "I did Jawan only because I love Shah Rukh sir. [He] spoke to me, and he made sure that he made me very comfortable, and because getting into Hindi cinema is something that I’ve not done in my entire career. There’s so much of love and respect for Shah Rukh sir and I think just for him and also for Atlee for the little brother he has been to me from his first film till Jawan. Nayanthara was supposed to be part of Chennai Express
In 2013, Nayanthara was set to join Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express. According to Pinkvilla, the Tamil star was going to be a part of the song, One Two Three Four, in the Hindi film. She was unable to take it up due to personal reasons, and Priyamani took her role instead. A decade later, she, SRK, and Priyamani all ended up in the same film, Jawan.She and Shah Rukh have maintained a close relationship after working on Jawan. The Badshah was one of the few Bollywood personalities present at Nayanthara's wedding to filmmaker Vignesh Shivn.
